Javier Utrabo

Born in Granada in 1981, he studied Piano and Composition at the Granada Royal Conservatory, graduating in 2005. By the year 2003, he discovered the double bass, an instrument that became his favourite one, focusing his career on it, specially in the field of early music.

He develops an intense musical activity, performing concerts and recording with all kind of groups, including Andalusia Youth Orchestra, Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra, Granada Baroque Orchestra, El León de Oro Choir or CordoBaroque Ensemble, among others. Besides, it should be highlighted his work along with the folk sextet Ambulancia Irlandesa, performing concerts with them throughout Spain. Moreover, as a collaborator of Cosmotrio, he has worked with the important indie pop group Los Planetas, taking part in a tour around Spain for the 20th anniversary of the CD Una semana en el motor de un autobús. This activity has brought him to perform concerts in important halls, such as National Auditorium of Music (Madrid), L'Auditori (Barcelona), Palau de la Música of València, Manuel de Falla Auditorium (Granada), Arriaga Theater (Bilbao), Mar de Vigo Auditorium and Daning Theater (Shanghái).

He has composed several works for all kind of instrumental and vocal groups, as well as symphonic arrangements for pop-rock groups, including the song Maldita dulzura, performed by Vetusta Morla along with the OSRM.

Nowadays, he is a professor of Musical Language at the Granada Professional Conservatory, combining this work with his studies of a Bachelor's degree in Singing.
